We know that woodworking is often a solitary activity, and sometimes we might go a little stir crazy alone in our workshops. April is National Woodworking Month, so we’ve decided to compile a list of some of our favorite resources to help you make the most of your projects – from trade shows to influencers, associations to publications, and much more!
If you are looking to expand your business, upgrade your spray finishing systems, or simply network with other woodworkers, you may want to register for an upcoming trade show. Dozens or even hundreds of industry exhibitors gather at woodworking trade shows to showcase their latest and greatest goods and services.
Trade shows can be small, such as those sponsored by local woodworking associations, or grand, such as the International Woodworking Fair coming up this summer or the Association of Woodworking and Furnishings Suppliers Fair next summer. If you’re planning to attend one of these fairs, be sure to drop by our Fuji Spray® booth; we’d love to see you!
There are many city or region-specific associations across North America. Joining an association can be beneficial since many of them often host meetings and events for hobbyists and professionals; these events are a great opportunity to share information, learn new techniques, exchange contacts, and connect with knowledgeable woodworking enthusiasts.
For a list of North American associations, visit Fine Woodworking.
Or, for a thorough list of Canadian associations, visit Canadian Woodworking & Home Improvement.
Industry Magazines Woodworking Journal
If you want the latest news and resources delivered to your door, consider subscribing to an industry magazine. Magazines such as Woodworker’s Journal, WOOD, and Canadian Woodworking & Home Improvement are brimming with helpful tips, how-to guides, and riveting reviews.
If you learn best by interacting with others online and by watching how-to videos, connecting with influencers on their social media pages is for you. Woodworking influencers, like the Wood Whisperer and April Wilkerson, are just like you, and their relatable posts may give you the inspiration you need for a new project.
Most woodworking associations organize or sponsor regular workshops. Workshops are a great opportunity to get hands-on experience to perfect your skills and network with like-minded woodworkers.
Fuji Spray® hosts two workshops per year, during the spring and fall seasons. Register now for our fall spray finishing workshop!
