Storing Your HVLP System
With the winter months around the corner and woodworking projects and household maintenance for some on hold, storing your HVLP system is important. Doing this will extend its overall life and will keep maintenance costs down in the future as well.
Here are a few helpful tips…
Store your system indoors!
Storing your HVLP system is essential specifically for those living in a colder climate. Keeping your system in an insulated or heated area is best. Like any tool, storing them in the cold could lead to rust.
Do a thorough Clean!
Cleaning your HVLP spray gun thoroughly is one of the most important steps after every use, but more importantly before you put your HVLP system away.
You can find step by step instructional video on how to clean your HVLP spray gun on our YouTube page www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUgmfWua3ww
Before storing your HVLP spray gun we recommend removing the lid of the cup and storing the HVLP spray gun with the lid off. By doing this you are allowing any solvent that may have saturated the gasket to evaporate, letting the gasket maintain its shape. This can also prevent future leaks from the cup due to the gasket being worn out.
Lubricate the needle!
Once you have thoroughly cleaned your HVLP spray gun before assembling it’s a good idea to lubricate the needle and packing nut for many reasons. This allows the needle to glide better and helps with the trigger function of the HVLP spray gun.
Store it all together!
Should you have additional accessories including a binder with all your ratios and information, make sure that it is stored together with your HVLP system. Keeping everything together will make it easier to find when the new spring and summer projects commence.
